Lovely dress but heavy!

I'm a 70 year old woman, reasonably fit but carrying 10 extra lbs. I purchased this for a cocktail wedding guest dress. I'm on the fence. It fits fine off the rack. But the dress is truly "heavy" in weight for an August indoor wedding. Keeping it as a back up but still shopping! PS: I'm 5'6" and the hem falls below my knee much more than model.
