Bowen Rib Sweater Skirt

I really wanted this skirt to work, but it didn’t. The color and fabric are great, and it’s very comfortable. While I liked how it looked from the front and back, I felt self-conscious about the side view. The waistband and very formfitting design made my lower abdomen protrude in an unflattering way, which isn’t usually an issue for me with bodycon dresses and skirts. I tried both the Small/Medium and Medium/Large sizes, but had the same problem. I’m unsure if sizing up would help. It’s disappointing because the skirt is lovely and short-girl friendly, so no hemming would be needed. For reference, I’m 5’3”, curvy, with a pear shape, thick thighs, but not a prominent butt. My measurements are 36” bust, 34D bra, 29” waist, and 41” low hip. I usually wear size 4/6 in dresses, 4/6 in stretchy jeans, and 6/8 in non-stretchy pants. The photos show me in the Medium/Large. While shapewear might help, I’m unsure if it’s worth the hassle.

It is such a nice skirt but I am uncertain about the sizing. I usually buy xs/small but prefer it a little loose so I went for a small/medium which fits almost too perfectly. It's not as comfortable when walking in big steps. I am worried that if I gained even just a little bit of weight, the skirt would be too tight and too clinging. I ended up returning the skirt but thinking about getting the next size up (medium/large).
