Beautiful colors
I have a few of these and love them. Easy to take along and I can actually apply my lip color without a mirror. The only downside is that they have to be sharpened, but it's worth it. The color is long wearing and the pencils last forever.

Poor design
First to say that the texture of the lipstick was great, and I loved the colour, really beautiful when on.
Now the downsides. It doesn't come with a pencil sharpener, my pet hate, PARTICULARLY when the pencil isn't a standard size! I bought a space NK sharpener and as a previous reviewer mentioned, it doesn't sharpen cleanly and chews at the wood leaving sharp edges. After the very first use, the top of the pencil fell off meaning it needed sharpened straight away. The texture of the lipstick is so soft that it's almost impossible to sharpen to a reasonable point and then use without the end crumbling away. I'm afraid I wouldn't buy this again as most of the lipstick ended up wasted in the bin.... (perhaps I had a faulty one, but suspect it's more to do with the soft glossy lipstick texture). Shame they couldn't bring this out in a bullet instead of the pencil.

Needs a sharpener
I bought this lip gloss pencil and thought it was perfect until 5 days later when I realized there was no way to access more of the product...no way to twist or push up more of it. I brought it back to the store and the associate told me I would have to buy a special sharpener for it...for $6! She sharpened it for me and now 3 days later it needs to be sharpened again. I guess I'll have to buy my own sharpener after all. How inconvenient. Also, since having it sharpened it has become soft and squishy. I noticed when sharpening, lots of the product is wasted...lost in the sharpener. How ridiculous. Every other lipstick product I have ever used -- Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Chanel, YSL, Estee Lauder, Revlon, etc.-- have a twist up feature. Nars needs to fix this. I'll never buy this product again.

love everything but the delivery mechanism
Great color, great texture, great staying power but I'm not keen on having to sharpen my lip gloss. First I stared at the sharpener for several minutes. Am I the only one who didn't know there was a piece that could be removed to accommodate the larger-than-eye-liner tube? The product disappeared so quickly as a result of sharpening. Is that really necessary?

Needs sharpening
I loved the color, Frivolous, on me! It was really pretty and had subtle sparkles, it was pretty moisturizing too, though not a replacement for lip balm. I do not like the idea of it needing to be sharpened to get more product. Clinque's chubby sticks are not re-designed so all you need to do is twist the bottom to get more products, whereas before, it also needed sharpening. Stupid idea, who wants to carry around a thick sharpener in their purse or want to remember to sharpen your lip gloss every 3 days?
Anyway, buy it for the color, but not the convenience. My sharpener now has bits of the gloss stuck inside and makes it hard to clean. I'm not lazy, but I would much rather use my Guerlain Kiss Kiss Baby, Clinque, or Laura Mercier. Notice how all three I mentioned are automatic!

Velvet Gloss Pencil
I like this gloss pencil. It is not a sticky gloss but does give a nice shine and feels good on the lips. I bought"New Lover" and really like the color.

Great coverage!
I love these lip gloss pencils! I didn't know what to expect until I tried a sample of "New Lover" that appeared in a Sephora gift set. These are great pencils, they give a lot of coverage and your lips aren't dry at all. The only reason I took a star off is because if you don't use a lipliner or foundation around your lips, it can stain the area around your lips! So be sure to use a little bit of foundation under it or a nude lipliner. Or just be more careful than I was about filling in your lips perfectly.
