'Kew' Crystal Collar Necklace

I wanted so badly to love this beautiful piece from BaubleBar, but when I opened it up for Christmas I noticed that one of the gems was missing. My husband chatted with Nordstrom customer service (which he told me was a very good experience), and they shipped us another one right away. Unfortunately that replacement was also missing a gem. I wound up taking it to the store to exchange for something else because I know how upset I'd be if I was wearing it and another gem fell out. The necklace does not come with extra gems (like some pieces do) so it would be pretty much unwearable without all of the gems. It's worth mentioning that the sales associate told me that she's taken this necklace as a return for that very problem a lot.

I got this necklace to fancy up a dress for a black tie optional wedding, and I think it did the trick! The necklace definitely makes a statement but isn't crazy over the top. I feel like it has the potential to be very versatile—my style is pretty relaxed and casual so I think I personally will only use it for dressy occasions but I think if you have a more elevated style than I do it could work great in lots of situations! I was worried it was going to be itchy, but at least laying over the dress I wore it was great! I loved the adjustable length—it allowed me to get the necklace to hit right at the place it needed to on my dress.

I wouldn’t say this is a “pretty” piece...maybe striking, a bit different... but it was a perfect compliment to a taupe-ish dress I selected for a wedding. It’s several sections pieced together in a burnished gold setting. It has primarily pearls and incorporates cz’s throughout to give it some sparkle and looked great with a dress that couldn’t decide if it was gray or a dull soft gold...lol. I’d tried several other necklaces but the gold settings were too bright to look quite right. This one did the trick. I recommend this if you like things that are a little bit different than the usual strands. It’s bold and truly does make a statement. My only complaint is that it doesn’t come boxed. Due to its construction it doesn’t “pool” or hang like a traditional necklace, so a nice box to store it in would have been welcome.
