NEW TO NORDSTROM:
Halle Berry x Sweaty Betty
We speak with Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry about her new clothing collection with Sweaty Betty—The rē•spin Edit, exclusively at Nordstrom—and how she's pivoted her approach to health, fitness and well-being over the past year.
What makes your Sweaty Betty collection great for different types of workouts?
They are the ultimate multitaskers—you can wear them to work out, to run errands or to nap. This line is about "re-spinning" the way you think about activewear.
What's your current fitness routine like?
Over the last few years, I've gotten into martial arts. It's been a place where I've been able to go to find solace and where I've found strength. I've learned so many practices that have made me walk through my days with confidence knowing that I'm strong, powerful and that I can protect myself and my children. I felt so empowered by that.
What's your training like when you're preparing for an action role?
It's probably some of the most intense training I've ever experienced! It's usually five to six hours of training a day, and depending on the film, I train based on what's required of me. It's something I've always taken very seriously because doing my own stunts in movies is one of my greatest joys. I have a real sense of accomplishment when I'm able to do that!
Sweaty Betty is all about balance—what's your favorite "healthy" food and what's your favorite "indulgence?"
Cauliflower rice is my favorite healthy food. Many dishes I love have to be over rice, and cauliflower rice is the perfect remedy. My favorite indulgence foods are hot wings, and salt and vinegar potato chips!
We've all spent a lot more time inside this year—any advice for maintaining health and wellness during these times?
There is no one-size-fits-all model to wellness. My advice would be to decide for yourself what truly nourishes you. The first step is to re-spin everything you thought you knew about health and wellness so that you can begin to make the journey your own.
Have you learned anything new or taken up any new hobbies while staying home over the last year?
I've made it my mission to find time in the day to exercise, get work done and be a mom. I think, during the pandemic, it's been easy to forget the time in our day to be active because we just can't do the things that we used to do and it's hard to find ways to do that at home. Discovering new, creative ways to stay active to feel inspired and energized, while also making it fun when things feel mundane and monotonous, has been key for my mental and physical health.
