stone missing after only 4 months

The ring is beautiful; especially the halo. My son bought it to propose to his fiancée at the end of January. It is now mid June and one of the stones in the band is missing which is distressing. It is no longer eligible for return, and an email to the company has not been answered (They promptly answered an earlier email about a matching wedding band.)
