- One of the most classic and enduring sunglass styles of all time, American Optical's Saratoga sunglasses weren’t available for decades. Now they’re back and better than ever, made in America using the finest global components. AOLite nylon lenses are impact-resistant and extremely lightweight for long-wearing comfort, featuring a backside, anti-reflective coating to reduce glare, as well as an oleophobic coating to minimize smudges. Seven-barrel hinges provide extra stability. Most famously worn by John F. Kennedy, reviving the Saratoga to its original glory required great care. The AO team worked off of the original design specs from the archives, making necessary tweaks for ergonomics and fit.
