Air Max 1 '87 Sneaker (Women)

Something about these feels off. I’m not suggesting they are, but they give the impression of having been manufactured for an off-brand store, or special sale. The laces are awful - Super shiny, fat stiff weave. Not at all like Nike laces. The color is pretty, and they feel good. But they’re a snug fit, which is inconsistent with my normal size; even in airmax.

Love the look of these Air Max 87s, bought the Smokey mauve colorway. But the quality is laughable. The “suede” feels synthetic and low quality, the mesh is a large weave, feels cheap and has already started fraying and loose threads. The laces are the cheapest, slipperiest nylon kind you can get at a drugstore. I got these on sale so I’m a little less annoyed than if I had paid full price. I now use them for my commuting shoes bc I don’t care if they get a little dirty catching the bus and walking around downtown. Buyer beware.

Wanted to love these super cute retro yellow/black/white sneakers. So disappointed that my feet were not so loving of the shoes. I have tender tootsies (balls of feet specifically) that need cushioning for pounding the pavement on long walks (no running) and all-day sight-seeing. The shoe is stiff and not enough cushioning compared to other sneakers like Hoka or New Balance Fuel Cell Walker. I felt too much weight shifting forward on the balls of my feet when walking. Did some research and found out the Heel Drop in these shoes is a whopping 12.1 mm. Podiatrists recommend no more than 6 mm for a comfortable walking shoe that distributes weight more evenly across the entire footbed. ( For runners, recommendation is no more than 11 mm for heel drop.) Would love these shoes if Nike lowered the heel drop and used better cushioning… and had a slightly wider toe box. I normally wear size 9 in shoes (8 1/2 in open toe sandals). With this shoe in size 9 1/2, I needed to wear thin socks for a non constricting fit. Would need a 10 if I were to wear with my thicker, cushioned socks. Also… the shoe laces are the worst. Overly thick, rigid and too short. Very hard to loosen or tighten laces.
