Good performance in a variety of conditions
Got these a month ago for short trail and OCR events. I love them. They are light weight, have great grip and drain well in wet conditions. Recently used them for the Castle Alpine Trail race in Alberta Canada (28 km and 2000 m of elevation gain) and I was super impressed with their performance and comfort on the technical climbs and descents. I got my standard shoe size and didn’t go down the recommended half size, they definitely run a bit large but I was grateful for the extra room in the toe box on the descents

Color is cracking off.
Bought in the Spring of this year. The color is cracking along where my toes bend. Looks like it may just split open. Saw other reviews with the same issue.

Looks cool but doesn’t last.
Have only been wearing these occasionally for a little over a month and the color is already coming off the toe. The use has been for casual walks. Disappointed in the durability or lack there of.

Favorite Trail Shoes Yet!
Second pair of these! My favorite for race day but I’ve taken them everywhere and loved them. Does really well with drainage but had enough cushion for rocky trails. Max distance I would use them for is a 50k. The fit was perfect and I didn’t experience any hot spots or breakdown in the upper. Even with the white color, they still scrubbed up nicely

Disappointed
I have about 70 miles on these shoes now and I have to say, I’m not a fan at all. I have owned dozens of Merrell shoes and these shoes have messed my feet up. I’m an avid trail runner and obstacle course racer, and I have never before had so many issues from shoes. Two bruised toenails (which never happens to me) and the tops of my feet hurt constantly when I wear these almost as if the laces are too tight, but they’re not. I have to take a week off and wear other shoes for the pain to go away and as soon as I wear them it appears again. I have relegated these to short dirt track workouts because I just can’t wear them very long. I wanted to like these so much more than I do. On paper, they are exactly what I was looking for/need for competitive trail racing/OCR, but in reality they’re feet killers. I wish they would just go back to making the original agility synthesis flex. The traction and grip are amazing, they fit the same as the other Merrells, and are stylish— I will say that. The shoe itself is stiff in order to get the toughness for the trail from it. I’m guessing the stiffness is what’s leading to the pain on my feet, not enough give for the flexion of running.
