Well made, comfortable
These are well made and comfortable. The leather is not smooth, so will require a suede/nubuck cleaner rather than a smooth leather product. The sole is nice and flexible. I exchanged the insert with a pair of SuperFeet for my low arches. I had no problems walking 23K steps one day in Kyoto this past summer in these.

Uncomfortable
I tried breaking in the shoes. I have bought many pairs of Mephisto shoes for years. These were the most uncomfortable ones I have purchased. I put in orthotics in them and I could not get used to them. If I hadn’t worn them outside for a few days I would have returned them.

Uncomfortable

Better options in comfort
Shoe is stylish, however comfort is not there. Shoe is painful to wear after a couple of hours. Zero cushion and support. Not for walks or travel. You are paying for the name! Also made in Portugal, not France

Runs large as stated. Shoes are not comfortable at all after 8 hour day at office with light steps. Shoe looses luster and shows bare leather after 3 months of use. Paying for name not quality/comfort in this shoe

The extra roominesss is intentional.
Bought these in a 13 for my husband, and they fit him perfectly. They do run big, but if you read the box, the extra length is intentional to impart comfort. This brand is my husband's favorite. He's 40 and feels very stylish and comfortable in these shoes.
