Kelsey High Waist Kick Flare Jeans

I’m typically a 14-16, so sometimes it’s hard to get the sizing right on the first go. Got a size 16. Typically order jeans by the waist size, so was hard to gauge. The style is promising but they immediately started to bag out in odd places when I put them on. Stretching is fairly typical for this brand, especially considering the stretchy fabric. What I’m concerned about is excess fabric in a few areas right from the get go. Lots of extra fabric at the hips. Also the crotch area tents up like men’s pants do when i sit down — there seems to be excess fabric below the zipper that shouldn’t be there cuz what would fill that out?! Unlike the length shown in photo, these come down past my ankles. I’m 5’10”, and was hoping they’d be a little bit more cropped. Will order the next size down and see if they’re any better.
