Gathered Fit & Flare Maxi Dress

This dress was baffling to me. The straps are incredibly short, but somehow also the waist area is way larger than the pictures show. I'm usually an 8, and I ordered a 6, 8, and 10 -- the straps on all three were so short they barely fit over my arms, and the waist/hip area on all three was ginormous. With the straps off and just holding it up, the chest area fit snugly but fine on the 8 (given, I'm a B-cup, so it wouldn't really fit anyone larger), but it's completely unwearable because straps were just absurdly short. The waist area is also so loose that it makes the pleats on the hips hang away from the body which is quite strange -- I knew based on the pictures that it wouldn't be a completely tight fit in the torso, but it's actually more of a babydoll style where the chest was tight and everything from the bust down just flowed straight out, which just doesn't make sense with the hip pleating.
