What it is: A mascara that offers you extreme 15-hour wear, extraordinary length and unstoppable power for long lashes that last.
What it does: It's engineered with Smudge-Shield Technology, which contains innovative polymers that lock in the mascara to keep it on your lashes and off of you. The formula is also resistant to high temperatures, humidity and perspiration. Microfiber bristles go deep into lashes to comb and detangle for super separation from root to tip. Your lashes channel through the brush's saturated core for a rich coating of pigment.
How to use: Wiggle the brush through the base of your lashes through toward the tips. Repeat to build volume. Warm water and cleanser unlock the formula and remove every last trace of mascara. Eye makeup remover works, too.

Lasts through tears
This mascara is the one mascara I buy no matter what, but I almost always buy two. Why? I have dry eye syndrome. My ophthalmologist plugged my tear ducts to help trap the tears in my eyes increasing moisture. It works fairly well, but sometimes my eyes overproduce tears. I also use eye drops a lot. This means that on top of drops running over my my eye makeup, a fan blowing on my face, a change in humidity, or who knows what will cause one eye or both to begin to sheet tears over my face removing almost every makeup I've tried. This is the only mascara I've found that will stay on over the course of the day. Yes, I've tried everything out there at all price points from the cheapest drugstore to the most expensive department store brands. Those that forms tubes scatter those tubes across my cheeks. Waterproof mascaras forms clumps under my lashes. Non-waterproof mascaras spread a haze under my eyes. This isn't my favorite mascara for length or fullness. My solution is to use it on my lower lashes. I usually use EL waterproof sumptuous mascara for the upper lashes with a final coat of double wear on top. If my eyes haven't been tearing over the past few days I can get away with using a different under layer brand of mascara, but I always like to seal it with a coat of double wear. Oh, and yes I've even tried the newest mascaras that you have to buy exclusive makeup removers for to take off. It took less than 15 minutes for my tears to remove that mascara. If I know I'm headed for day of all out makeup abuse like to a beach or travel, etc. I use just the doublewear to make sure it lasts. Using a layer of MAC paint pot under my eye shadow (instead of any eye shadow base) and a Laura Mercier gel eyeliner with Shiseido's Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 PA+++ insures that I'll get to the end of the day and still need to remove my makeup. I've yet to find any other mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, or foundation that can last through my tearing problems. I highly recommend Doublewear Mascara if you're looking for a way to prevent smudging under the eyes and make your mascara last all day despite humidity, water, tears, crying, and anything else your day might through at it.

I do not understand the high star ratings given?
I don't get the reviews. I tried this mascara and it flaked terribly. I was embarrassed when I saw myself in the mirror at the end of the day. I threw it away without any consideration of salvaging any part of it.

Best for Bottom Lashes
I have been using this mascara for about 10 years now. I have actually been using all different types of Estee Lauder Mascara for about 25 years. I have fairly long bottom lashes and used to always have "racoon eyes' because the mascara would come off my lashes and cause me to have black splotches under my eyes. I don't like to wear waterproof mascara because it is too heavy and stiff and hard to remove when I wear contact lenses. When I saw that the "zero smudge" was not actually waterproof I decided to try it out. 10 years later I am still using my volumizing mascara on my top lashes and the Zero Smudge on my bottom lashes. I never get "racoon eyes" anymore! I only gave it 4 stars because I don't like the brush enough to use it on my top lashes. The other reason I like this mascara is that even though it is smudgeprrof it washes off easily with warm water.

Good, but with a few caveats
This mascara goes on a bit more slowly than some, but the result is worth the extra few seconds it takes to apply it. The brush is fantastic, and it separates lashes beautifully and lengthens better than anything else I've ever used.
The mascara doesn't smudge, either, as other reviews have mentioned--though it does seem to start flaking by day's end.
My main concern--and I may have to return it because of this--is that when I wash it off (using soap and water), it definitely flakes, and the flakes get into my very sensitive eyes and cause major irritation.

No raccoon eyes
This is the only mascara I have found that does not smudge. Worth the cost.
