The perfect Autumn jacket
I was waiting to write a review on this jacket until after I got back from my yearly autumnal visit to New York. Now that I've returned, I can say this jacket was perhaps one of my best investments yet. The temperature ranged from 45-65 and we experienced rain and sun alike. I wore this jacket during nature hikes in the rain and windy walks on the beach. It performed outstandingly well. I bought the snap on hood which is a must if you're going to be facing some rain. But I love that I could just snap it off for the sunny days, as I not only like how the jacket looks without the hood, but it was also lighter too. The versatility is amazing. The jacket zips up and snaps too to really keep the heat in and the elements out. The soft hand warmer pockets were perfect since I didn't bring gloves. And the utility pockets really came in handy for holding everything from my wallet and my phone, to even bulky camera lenses. I never needed a purse because these pockets really held everything. Oh, and the tartan lining (folded up sleeves) is such a great look. As far as color goes, I ordered both the Sage and the Olive because it was difficult for me to get a sense of the true color online (they all look so dark in the pictures). I ended up settling on the Sage because I really liked the forest green look. The olive was really more brown than green (not ideal for a brunette - too matchy with my hair color). I will also say that the jacket does initially look quite shiny due to the waxed finish. I wasn't a fan of this but luckily the shine (and the sort of greasy feel) quickly faded away. I wore the jacket on the plane ride to speed up this process and by the time I landed, the jacket looked much better and much more matte. As for size, I am petite but busty (5'2", 115lbs), I ordered a size 4 and it fit perfectly. According to the size chart I am a size 6 but since I normally wear an XS top, I went with a 4 and glad I did. It was roomy enough to wear layers underneath but not so huge that it looked ridiculous. I definitely recommend this jacket for the fall and possibly even for winter, as you can buy a zip-in liner.

Cute but the “waxed” part is useless
I really wanted to like Barbour. They have great designs, they’re practical AND cute... not. I bought a brand new one (this one) in Scotland three days ago, and after a light shower, I’m completely soaked. So disappointed. Only buy for cuteness. Does nothing against water.

Heavenly
What's not to love about a Barbour Beadnell jacket? It is superbly crafted, beautifully appointed, and has a history that is worth reading about if you haven't already.
This jacket is a classic, no doubt, and together with the liner, the hood, and the matching scarf you have it made--fashion and function in one. I only wish I could have more than one so I could do as I read one blogger say: Her husband bought her two so she can walk the dog in one and wear the other out to lunch. Now there's a good husband!
I am 5'7", 118 lbs, and normally wear a size 4 in any jacket and the US4 Barbour fits me fine. You want enough room to layer, and for it to look oversized--this is NOT a fitted jacket. It is meant to be loose and roomy.
When the wax wears off after a couple of years, for only $38 you can have it reproofed by Barbour and they send it back to you looking like a brand new jacket. Lovely. The Beadnell lasts a lifetime. You will never need another jacket --wear it in rain or shine. When it rains I wear mine with the tall green Hunter boots I also bought at Nordstrom.

Fits true to size
I'm normally an 8 or 10. But after reading other reviews I sized up and ordered both a 10 & 12. The 10 was cute, loose fit, but stuck out a bit. The 12 was way too big. I ordered a size 8 and it's perfect. I was concerned about it being tight in the shoulders but it actually fits very similar as the 10 through the shoulders. I would advise people to order their regular size.

Great quality jacket
I bought this jacket in all 3 colors in (size 4) order to choose. Sage (olive green), rustic (brown), and navy (navy but almost looks black). Please note that all three colors are very dark and look the same. What I like about the jacket is the obvious high quality. It's warm and well-made. the vest liner in size 4 in olive green goes with every color and offers nice extra layer. But it doesn't zip in all the way around so I often miss the arm hole when putting it on. Also the hood (had to buy from another retailer) is a nice addition and looks good on the jacket. What I didn't like is the sleeves. Super short especially on my 5'8.5" 120lb frame. The jacket and accessories are pricey and the jacket in the rain seems to retain water and takes a while to dry off. It's an investment I suppose.

Channeling my inner Brit
I've always debated getting a Barbour jacket, but I just never thought it would be "my style." By chance, I saw some Barbour coats in the store today and was excited to finally try one on. Much to my surprise, it looked fabulous. It is one of those pieces that just looks good with any style. I also love that they are still being made in England (note: buy it before they start outsourcing like Burberry did on some of their pieces). I purchased the jacket in sage, and it is a dark, deep hunter green that looks great with jeans and khaki alike. Regarding the sizing, I am a solid 6 in all Burberry coats, and the 6 in Barbour was perfect for me.

The Best!
I love Barbour. Have had one for over 25 years and it was my go-to for an all-weather coat. I had a hard time telling how this coat would fit on a person of average height and size from the models wearing them (They are tall and long-legged and make the coat look small). I am 5'7" and weigh 145 pounds on a good day. I can comfortably wear most size 10's, but always order up to a 12 in a coat. My old Barbour was big on me, but was a different style and bought in London. There was no US size on it and I could barely read the tags anymore. I ordered a 14 in this because I want more room in the coat for bulky layers and I like to roll up the sleeve to show the plaid lining. I also want some length to cover my tush. The 14 is pretty roomy; I've ordered a 12 and will decide between the two . Good luck finding the right size, but when you do, you'll love it!
