Details & care
Dual compartments make it easy to neatly sort your trash and recyclables in one convenient, space-efficient place. On one side, an innovative liner pocket stores and dispenses liners from inside the can for a faster liner change. The other side has a convenient handled bucket for easy lifting and disposal of all your recyclables. Stainless steel liner rim grips the liner and keeps it hidden. And with no inner bucket, there's more space for trash. The strong wide steel pedal is spring-loaded for a smoother stepping experience. Patented lid shox technology ensures the lid closes slowly and silently every time. The can's stainless steel surface is protected by an invisible silver-ion coating that resists fingerprints and germs. Our Code H custom fit liner fits this can perfectly — no bunching or slipping for a cleaner trash experience. Liner refill packs store easily in this can's liner pocket.
- streamlining the task: Our unique liner rim system is a faster, neater way to trash. The outer lid lifts up for easy access to the liner — no need to remove the top of the can or fumble with a clumsy bucket. When you're done, it closes over the liner to keep it neatly out of sight.
- always at your fingertips: Our liner pocket stores a 20 pack of custom fit liners and dispenses them one by one from inside the can.
- an elegant recycling solution: Our dual compartment cans make sorting trash and recycling look good and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors to fit any space.
- effortless strength: All it takes is a light touch with our spring-loaded steel pedal, which is engineered to last over 150,000 steps – that’s more than 20 steps a day for 20 years.
- silent close lid: Our patented lid shox technology controls the motion of the lid for a slow, silent close.
- perfect fit – extra strong: Our code H custom fit liners fit this can perfectly so there’s no bunching, slipping or messy bag overhang for a neater, cleaner look.
- pod in, odors out: Our all-natural odorsorb pod fits discreetly inside the lid of your simplehuman can to eliminate trash odors for 45 days.
- optional compost caddy: Add our compost caddy to your trash-sorting routine — it conveniently docks on the side of this trash can encouraging you to separate organics from trash, making waste management even more efficient.

Nowhere near as good as my previous Simple Human bin
We are disappointed with this bin. Our previous bin was a Simple Human and we loved it. . . for 14 years!
But eventually our old bin gave up and we ordered this one. It looks incredible and does have a few features we like, like the holder for the spare bin bags.
But the body of this one is made of metal and we'd managed to dent it within two weeks of it arriving :( It's too expensive for us to replace it, so we now have to live with a fancy-looking bin that is damaged.
The twin interior bins is what we wanted, but the plastic bucket has a handle that falls in the way when you try to empty it and the plasic top surrounds that seperate each bin catch all the little crumbs and drips that don't get perfectly aligned with the tiny hole at the top.
THe foot padel is no where near as sturdy or well designed as our previous Simple Human, it feels quite delicated.
This bin will not last us more than year, which is why we're disappointed. The unwanted dent will now cause rusting. This is nowhere near as good as we've come to expect from Simple Human. This is a far reach away from simple.
1/10 - you really must try harder and get back to basics.

Be careful of the gold finish.
I would like to say that bin is beautiful and I got it with a promotional caddy with purchase. The item arrived and there was no issues. But it scratches incredibly easily. When I approached SH, they offered to give me 10% off my next purchase. I explained that I happy to keep the bin but am not paying the full total for a subpar product. To date, SH has failed to address my emails and has offered no resolution other than the 10%.

This is our second step recycler. Our last took us through almost 10 years. It had one side latch broken and did not quite open fully the last few years but it still did the job for us. We expect to have the same excellent experience with the new model as the old one , even better since we see new improvements. We have only had the new one a week but so far no complaints!

Great function (a little damaged)
I honestly love the function of this trash. It does everything I need and fits great in my apartment. It did arrive with some damage (a bit of melted plastic on the foot, and inside the trash can side; and a dent on the recycling side) but it didn't seem worth it to return it over. Overall, a great upgrade.
