First Fryes and I am in LOVE
These are my first Fryes. Why have I waited so long?
The smell, the feel, the fit, the color - all perfect.
So soft to the touch, hardly any break in period (could feel the shoe softening during the first wear).
I can wear 8.5 and 9 and have a slightly wide foot. Ended up with the 8.5 in this boot as the 9s had too much heel slip. The 8.5s are snug but after 2 wears are molding perfectly to my foot.
I cannot stop wearing them or looking at my feet all day!
Oh and I stopped by and the cobbler explained why you will experience some heel slippage in a new boot - it is because the sole of the boot cannot flex when it is brand new, so your foot ends up doing the moving. Once the shoe/boot sole starts to flex a little, they will stick to your feet more and end the heel slippage. The education helped me pick the 8.5s rather than the 9s.
I cannot wait to get another pair of Fryes. Now I think I might be addicted!

Worst boots ever
After lusting after these for months, I received them as a birthday present. They are without a doubt the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life. After 15 minutes of walking I have incredibly painful blisters. Do not waste your money.

Expected better from Frye
Cool looking boot, but quality is lacking. First thing I noticed was the dye transfer when I tried it on----left black smudges on my socks (the upper is unlined).....really don't think that should happen at this price point. As others have noted, the heel slips quite a bit when walking---this may be characteristic of a pull-on boot, but it is uncomfortable and I suspect will cause blisters if a lot of walking is done. In general a sloppy, clunky feeling boot. I've had Frye boots in the past, but probably won't buy them again.

I love my Fryes :)
I got a pair of harness frye boots a few years ago. They're still in great condition, but I wanted a pair that were more like moto boots, not cowboy boots. I also wanted boots that were loose and slouchy around the calf with a pull-on construction (no zippers). I do not have small calves, and these are perfect with regard to what I was looking for :) I was afraid they would be tight around the calf, but they're not at all! They also hit below the widest part of the calf, so they don't make your legs look shorter and bigger haha. I got my pair in the black in a size 9.5, with gives me just a little wiggle room. I usually wear a 9.5 in other shoe brands, so I'd say these are TTS. The leather on top is extremely soft and has a vintage feel. They are extremely comfy! I've worn them everyday since I received them. I LOVE these boots already.

adjust the strap!
I bought these in black (soft vintage, I believe) in 2013. As long as it's not too wet, or there's snow on the ground, I wear them every day. The boot has treads except for the heel, which is hard like a cowboy boot, and in my experience slick asphalt can be a hazard because of this.
There was no break-in period for these, no blisters or chaffing, but they are a little snug for the first week or two of wear. Also, when it's warm, they get a little tight around my toes from my feet swelling. Other than that, they're perfectly molded to my feet.
For those that are complaining about heel slippage - adjust the strap! When I first tried mine on they were loose in the heel. I adjusted the strap and have never had the issue since. They can be difficult to manage through the buckle, but both straps are functional. Be smarter, ladies.
My one and only complaint is that because the opening is wider, the sewn-in white label is visible. It's a little annoying, like the Tom's label sewn to the back of their shoes.

Great Boot!
I normally wear a size 8.5/9. I ordered the 8.5 and was a little worried when I received the boot. My heel was slipping, as many others have stated. I so wanted the boots to work, and after researching Frye boots a bit online, I discovered that heel slippage is very normal during break in. I decided to wear them around the house for a day. Once I did that my heel stopped slipping! The boots are so comfy now I don't even realize I'm wearing boots. They are the most comfortable boots I own! I also like the "slouchy" aspect of them. They stand tall as shown or you can scrunch them down a little. Its a loose fit that will accommodate leggings or jeans and also those who may have a wide calf.

Military type boot
I knew these boots were "slouchy" from the description, so I was expecting soft leather. Instead the shaft of the boot was very wrinkled and looked worn. The boot shaft also didn't stand at all, like in the image. When I tried them on, they looked very much like a military/combat boot. Sadly, not a fan.
