Its ripstop nylon fabric resists abrasions and shields against wind and light precipitation. The discontinuous quilting pattern reduces stitching and creates an uninterrupted warmth flow. Additionally, this piece packs down to palm size.

Awesome mid layer or outer layer weather dependent- used multiple times in Patagonia for trekking- packs nicely and easy to bring out and thrown on- hood is a necessity in Patagonia winds- highly recommend.

Broken zipper, didn't wear
I bought this in 2023 from OR, wore it for less one season and the zipper broke. It's been in my mending pile to install a new zipper for the last 1.5 years : (

I am OBSESSED with this jacket. If you’re looking for something with all the gadgets and gizmos (drawstrings, extra pockets and zippers, etc) this ain’t it. This is a lightweight jacket and those extras have been foregone for the sake of weight savings. However if you’re looking for an ultralight jacket for hiking and backpacking?? Look no further. I’ve worn this in <20 degree weather with just a wind jacket over it, I’ve worn it in 40 degree weather with just an Echo hoodie underneath, I have always been the perfect temperature. If you need ventilation after a climb, I just unzip on top and I’m good to go. Additionally, the fabric makes it easy for my pack to slide on and off which is a nice bonus. It has held up very well and I’m continually impressed by it! As far as I’m concerned this is a 10/10 for backpackers.
