Perfect for thin legs
I find reviews are most helpful when people describe what size they wear, and their height/weight and calf circumference. Without that info, reviews are fairly useless because what works for one person may not work for you.
I'm a fan of the 5050 and I love the Lowland as well. I am petite, under 5 ft tall, around 90 lbs, with a calf circumference of about 11.5 inches and have a hard time finding boots that fit my narrow calves. (I have 5 different pairs of SW boots. They are the only brand that consistently works for me.) The Lowlands are beautiful suede boots. I actually like my first pair of Lowlands from a couple seasons ago like better than the new ones. The suede was softer, the ties are leather and the shaft height is slightly lower, and the fit is slightly tighter... But the new ones are still excellent in quality. I have them in Londra grey which is a great neutral. You must spray them with suede protector before you wear them to keep them in good condition, and clean and spray them regularly.
I wear these in size 4, but in most other brands I wear a size 5 with inserts. In size 4, the Lowland shaft height is about 21.5 inches which well over my knee as I am short. (My 5050 boot has a shaft height of about 19 inches, right above the knee.) I also tried on the size 4.5, which could have worked for me with thicker socks and the shaft height was slightly higher, about 22 inches or so. The shaft height and circumference of the boots increase slightly as the sizes get bigger. I have very thin ankles so the boots look way better, with less bagging around the ankles and leg, if I wear socks and leggings.
I do think Lowlands look best - really stunning - on women with long, thin legs but I still love them even though I am super short and get compliments each time I wear them. They tend to elongate the leg and they are so comfortable, warm and look good with multiple outfits.
I've tried to purchase less expensive knock offs in size 5 like Charles David Gunter and Sam Edelman Paloma which have narrow shafts but those styles didn't work for me. They were still too baggy which made the material look thin and the silouette too "bumpy." But those styles could probably work for those with a 12 inch calf or larger. The only other boot that I have found to fit me well other than Stuart Weitzman is the Jemina boot by Joie in size 5.

Only if you're rail-thin
Despite a couple of reviews from "plus size girls" and mentions of the stretch these boots have, don't be fooled ladies - they're made for very thin legs only. I could barely get them up over my knee, and when I did, there was a most unattractive muffin top created by the tight leather digging into my thigh. I'm not plus-sized, I'm a size 10 jeans, and my thighs are what I'd consider pretty average in girth... but I think if you're not built like Kendall Jenner you'll be disappointed.

Amazing!
When I saw the first ads for these boots a few months ago, with model Gisele Bundchen, my response was "wow!" Since I am 65, I thought they were not for me. But as I saw more women wearing them, of all ages, I became more interested. Trouble was, all size 6 black boots were sold out. Finally a pair became available, and I ordered them immediately. They are true to size, extremely comfortable, easy to get on and off. They are stretchy, and versatile; you can fold over the top if you want. Of course I will not wear them with shorts or mini skirts, since I do not wear those anymore. But they look great with mid- level and knee-length skirts, and on weekends I will wear them with leggings and a long jacket or sweater. I am petite, 5'1", and 120 pounds, and they do not overwhelm me. They may not be good for anyone with thicker legs, though. Looks like this brand has a real winner!

Best. Boots. Ever.
I have been wanting SW boots for a few years now due to my smaller calves and petite frame. These boots are perfect if you have small calves and they elongate the legs. The suede is soft and it is so comfortable. I walked forever with this a couple of weeks ago and my feet did not ache! A few things to point out--What I do is double knot the tie in the back because it tends to untie. Another thing is, when you first wear it, be careful since the black suede leaves some black smudging on the legs. But that only happened the first time I wore it. They are beautiful, comfortable, and flattering!

Fabulous !
I saw these boots and read every review multiple times. I was just not sure about the height of the boot or if I could get my foot in them.
I finally ordered them (LEATHER ones due to rainy season) and I'm writing this review so you can make sure you get the right boot size for you. I'm a perfect 8m....I bought both the 8m and 7.5m as I wanted to make sure of a good fit. I hate tight footwear...I pride myself on a comfortable fit. The 8m was loose in foot area. My heel was slipping even though it felt comfortable.....( I have a medium foot and a normal arch) . I rolled the shaft of the boots down to 4 inches above the foot of boot, pointed my toe and slide my foot in. If you have a high arch or thicker foot, this could be challenging. The 7.5m fit snugger....no heel movement and I believe the shaft portion of boot is a little snugger on the 7.5m as well. I wore for 7 hours my first day and they were very nice. My feet were comfortable. I got some water marks on the foot area, even after spraying, so I quickly picked up some Cadillac shield spray from Nordstrom and it was the key. The leather is VERY supple and molds to your foot and legs.
I'm 5'4, 127lbs......I have thin legs....my inseam is 28inches. The boot height is wonderful....After wearing the boots, I did notice they conformed to my foot even more and It is VERY important you don't buy them loose in any area of the foot bed.
As far as the boots staying up, it was no problem. I double knotted the ties and they stayed up all day with legging and subsequently with skinny legged jeans.
