Waxy Cowhide Leather Mechanics Jacket

Leather is a bit stiff but softens a little when warmed. The color really shines with this one. Its a very dark brown pigment over red-brown (brandy) leather. I am excited to see how this will wear with time as i imagine the redder tones will show through. The liner looks cool. I am comfortable wearing this down to 30 degrees F and then i will probably need a sweater underneath any colder than that. This is an excellent late fall to early winter jacket. Quality is excellent. There are enough pockets. The sleeves zip open. Pair with Magnanni camino lo sneakers.

This is a special piece from Schott - the waxy cowhide is heavy but soft and supple and is already starting to break in after one wear. Fits true to size, a little straight/boxy until I cinched in the sides with the adjusters. The pull-up leather shows the expected color change when stretched (at the elbows or when hands are in pockets), and the deep burgundy/brown becomes a light red that quickly fades. Very cool. As another reviewer mentioned, the panels are not perfectly matched, but I think that actually gives the jacket incredible character. There's some difference to both the grain and the tannage on the front panels, the sleeves, and the back panels, but the overall effect is only noticeable from certain angles, and again I think gives it some charm and uniqueness. If this were a sleek, black lambskin jacket I'd care more about the color and grain matching perfectly, but I love this jacket for what it is - a rugged, beautiful heirloom piece that's built like a tank.

If you're willing to invest in a quality (3 season) leather that you can pass on to your grandson...this is it. It is stylish and modern so no need to channel your inner Rocky Balboa and find yourself missing a few teeth.

I have been looking for a Burgundy jacket. This one looked great online until it arrived. It looked scratched and the color was not consistent. So I reordered it hoping it was just that particular jacket. The second one arrived and it looked worse than the first one. Too bad because I really loved the color but I am not paying this much if the garment doesn't look the same all over.
