A very disappointing purchase....
This is the first time I have ever left a review on Nordstrom, but I felt compelled to warn consumers about the poor quality of the tea. The ingredients of the Ryokucha Green is toasted brown rice, organic green tea, and organic matcha power. Essentially is is a type of Japanese green tea, better known as "Genmaicha." The color of this Samovar tea was a dull brownish green, which meant the tea had oxidized and lost its freshness. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and completely masked the light flavor of the toasted brown rice. The best Japanese green teas are bright green in color and the roasted brown rice should add a toasty, nutty aroma. None of the qualities which Samovar possessed. In truth, the Samovar tea is even inferior in quality when compared to supermarket brands from Nijiya or Mitsuwa. For the best Japanese tea, try Jugetsudo-Avoid Samovar at all costs!!
