Rockrydge Climbing Pants

These are seriously the best climbing pants I have ever owned. I have had these pants for about 2 years, and I own these pants in 5 different colors. I have worn the volcanic blue (please bring this color back!) multiple times a month, climbing in the Colorado alpine and hiking several miles. They are abrasion-resistant against rocks, which is hard to find among climbing pants made for women. They are also suitable for women with smaller waists and bigger thighs/hips like myself. The only complaint I have is that they are a bit short on myself since I have longer legs. A 29+ inch inseam option would be nice for women with slightly longer legs. This would allow for the pants to hit slightly above the ankles, but also allow for free movement while climbing. I would also love to see these pants come in more neutral colors like black, navy, dark green, grey, etc.

The lifelong search for my favorite pants is over. I’ve had pants from kuhl, prana, and other outdoor tech brands and even MHW dynamas but nothing makes me as happy as these. Comfortable, durable, great fit. I’ve worn them constantly through all seasons in the PNW. The roominess means they’re as cool as shorts in summer and actually not that cold in the winter, and it’s easy to wear wool leggings under. The fabric is mildly stretchy and feels great to the skin, yet where in every other pair of tech pants comfortable fabric invariably sacrifices durability and pills up or snags, I’ve never had a single pill or snag in these. Camping, hiking, general playing around and climbing things, lounging and town, dancing, working out, rolling on the floor with siblings. There may be better pants for running and mountain biking but I’ve done both in these as well with surprising comfort. Haven’t tested them rock climbing yet but I’m sure they’d be amazing. Fit is fantastic, I love the complete range of motion. Sometimes with baggy styles the extra fabric gets in the way, not with these. I am 5’4” 125lbs curvy build- smaller waist and wide hips and thighs. I love the cinch waist mechanism on these. There’s a little bit of extra fabric at the waist for me, but I just cinch it up and it’s comfortable and stays in place. I wear small, my usual size. I think I would fit XS if I wanted a more fitted wear but I like them how they are. The mild “issues” I’ve encountered in all this wear time: 1. The cinch waist is a full loop of webbing inside. Sometimes it can get twisted, then is a bit of a pain to untwist, kind of doing the threading a lost hoodie string shuffle. 2. Pockets are pretty much for hands - they are deep enough for my phone which is cool, works for just walks fine. But it’s only gravity holding items in the pockets, so if playing i.e. climbing trees or putting feet up on the couch, stuff will fall out. There is a zipper pocket in the back if needed, I just don’t usually use it because I don’t like sitting on my stuff. I wouldn’t necessarily change the pockets to zipper, might change the pants too much. I’ve just embraced waist pack/backpack life. Clearly these factors have not kept me from wearing them… nearly every day. I just bought my 5th color, and got a pair for my mom. Please never stop making these, and keep up the good work with quality, I pledge to buy more colors!!

I wear these for everything now including climbing, working outside, and walking around the city in comfort. They are comfy and casual and roomy. They are on the baggier side but fit fine under a climbing harness and give you plenty of room to move. I am 5' 3' and 120 lbs and wear an XS - the fit is roomy.

I really love these pants, but need to add the caveat: I am pretty short (5’1”), but a bit stocky (I won’t say). I bought the large, and the butt/legs fit great; I just wish the waist was a little smaller. I really like the cinched bottoms, and they are not too long for me, which is very cool! They may be more ankle-length for a taller person.
