POWER GRID: AUSTRALIA/INDIAN SUBCONTINENT includes two new maps for Power Grid. The Australia map challenges players with several independent power networks. Players now have the ability to sell uranium. The Indian Subcontinent map offers a more restrictive resource market. It can punish players who expand too quickly with power outages! Australia does not have a single connected power network. Only in the populated regions, mainly in the Southeast are several cities connected to each other. Because of this, players may connect to any city for a generally higher connection cost. Australia does not use uranium for their power production, but they do mine huge amounts of the material to sell to other countries. This offers a completely new game element, even for experienced Power Grid players! The Indian Subcontinent is always in danger of suffering huge power outages if the players increase their networks too fast. Additionally, the players must buy their resources on a limited resource market, which does not always guarantee enough resources for all players. The garbage power plants use livestock manure and have a low efficiency. When producing electricity they need one additional garbage. This expansion can only be played with a copy of Power Grid (Rio Grande Games, 2004). The rules of Power Grid remain the same, except for some modifications and special features of the two maps contained in this expansion.
- TWO REGION-SPECIFIC MAPS: Includes a double-sided board with unique layouts for Australia and the Indian Subcontinent. Each side introduces distinct gameplay twists based on real-world energy systems.
- INDEPENDENT POWER NETWORKS IN AUSTRALIA: Players can connect to any city, but at a higher cost due to unlinked regional grids. Plan carefully to manage expansion costs in this decentralized network.
- URANIUM EXPORT MARKET: Australia doesn't use uranium but allows players to mine and sell it for profit. Adds a fresh economic layer that rewards strategic resource management.
- CHALLENGING RESOURCE MARKET IN INDIA: Limited availability of resources can lead to major shortages and power outages. Expanding too fast can backfire, so players must pace their growth wisely.LOW-EFFICIENCY GARBAGE PLANTS: In India, garbage plants (powered by manure) consume extra fuel to operate. Resource planning becomes even more critical with inefficient power sources.
