Abominable Warm Man in Down Coat
I was looking for durability in a down coat. I stand around in cold temps for long periods of time. I researched the warmest thing out there, and in my price range this is what kept popping up. It’s like hanging out wearing a sleeping bag and I use it for a pillow when I finally do land in my bag. The only thing I am surprised hasn’t been invented yet is a down coat you can wear around a campfire that you don’t have to worry will get an ember puncture. You basically have to wear an outer layer over your coat if you are really serious about preventing ember damage, and this coat is pretty thick! So I haven’t figured that out yet, but I have been careful! Love this coat. Been cozy up to -15F so far.

Boxy fit, bulky hood, heavy and not packable
Purchased Black sz Medium. Boxy unflattering fit, gigantic hood has more down than the front panels, heavy, not packable for bc skiing, some details like sleeve cuffs look cheap, OR logo only on the side of the arm so the front is very plain looking. Bought this to replace OR Transcendent Hoody from 2019. Disappointed with all the above and will be returning. Sadly, OR does not make any hoodies that are comparable to the Transcendent.

Warm and Functional
Used in a recent trip to Mongolia where temps were between 0F and 30F. Packed well in my carryon backpack. When active all I needed was a tshirt underneath the jacket and was warm but not sweaty. When stagnant, tshirt and sweater was enough. inside pockets held chunky gloves well and the drawstring hood kept the hood up in 25mph wind gusts.

Exceptionally warm, and packed small. Purposes bought for a trip hiking glaciers in AK and it got the job done.

Surprising
Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5'6" and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

Comfortable but has now blown apart
All the features are fantastic, long-term durability is not - maybe thats why its called a hoodie? I am into year 4 and the material has completely blown apart, not just at the seams but literally all the material. I used this daily and worked it pretty hard here in Northern BC. Overall, pretty happy with it, just wish it lasted longer!
