An Essential Piece of Gear

I have very fair skin and burn easily. I'm also an outdoor junkie. Despite this combo, I've never been a sun hoodie guy. That all changed with this hoodie. I've taken this thing canoe camping in 100 degree heat and 95% humidity. I've taken it climbing around the world in both chilly and hot weather. I've taken it on week long ultralight backpacking trips. Not only has it put up with the wear and tear, it's just so versatile. It protects from the sun first and foremost, but is also is amazing at wicking moisture, protecting from bugs, and serves as a versatile layering piece in cases where every piece of gear matters, like backpacking. It's my favorite piece of outdoor specific clothing and the first thing I reach for generally when heading out to an adventure.

Please bring back last version (w/orange zipper)

The PREVIOUS VERSION with orange zipper, which I appreciate and thank you for, Team OR, -it has a generous HOOD that fits over a ball cap and overlaps nicely, providing sun protection much better than even from a hat, during low-in-the-sky sun. Material is nice, light and loose fitting; beautiful product that I came looking to buy again, only to realize that this NEW VERSION has a too small of a hood; cannot buy. (also long sleeves can protect hands, but that seems unchanged). Thank You.

Runs small but great

I am always concerned about sun exposure but with this I feel covered. I did order 1 size up from normal and it fits perfect.

I bought this for a vacation to Niagara Falls in the early summer. It was perfect for the cooler mornings to cut the chill. Packs down super small and very light weight for adding to a day pack. I would purchase more if I need them.

Great for the trail

I wore the Outdoor Research Astroman Air Sun Hoodie for a 12-day, 80-mile backpacking trek at Philmont, and it earned its place in my pack. We spent long days on the trail in strong sun, heat, and changing mountain conditions. The hoodie did an excellent job keeping the sun off my arms, neck, and head while still breathing well and wicking away sweat. Even after days of hiking with a loaded backpack, it stayed comfortable and held up extremely well. After nearly two weeks of hard use, I came away impressed with the combination of sun protection, breathability, and durability. For long backpacking trips where you are exposed to the sun for hours every day, the Astroman Air Sun Hoodie is exactly the kind of gear you want working quietly in the background.

Great sun jacket

This jacket was great while hiking in NC. It kept the sun off me and even some light showers. It dried quickly and was easy to wash.

Great gift

My father in law is very particular about technical clothing gear so it is hard to find good gifts for him. This was a win. He likes the slight stretch, material, and good sun protection. Color is as pictured.
