'Kayla' Sandal (Women)

I am a Naot fan and this is my go to sandal for walking and when I'm going to be on my feet for long stretches of time. I don't consider this shoe to be high style but rather stylish enough. It doesn't scream orthopedic but it really is. One other thing, this Naot footbed is not going to work if you have a wider foot. This style runs a bit narrow and short. If you are usually a 38 in Mephiso you'll be happier in a 39 in the Kayla.

These Naot 'Kayla' sandals have excellent reviews on several retail sites, so I decided to give them a try. I am a 7.5 US and usually a 37.5 EU, so I went with the 7 US/38 EU and that was definitely the correct size. As soon as I put these on my feet, I could tell the soles would be great for walking; they have good arch support and a bit of spring to them. I can tell that they will further mold to my feet with additional wear. What pleasantly surprised me is how lightweight they are. I expected them to be clunkier, like Birkenstocks, but they are much lighter weight and slimmer profile. I have a slightly narrow foot by US size standards, but a medium foot in European brands, so I found this sandal to be true to width for me. I do not think it would be good for wide feet. The only negative thing I can say about this style is that I found the ankle strap to be a bit too long. I can still velcro it closed securely, but as the leather inevitably stretches out over time, I'll have a noticeable tail because I already have to pull it further than shown in the photos. I ordered 4 colors for comparison: white snake leather, stone nubuck, oily dune nubuck, and black matte leather. I did not like the oily dune nubuck because it's a very yellow-toned shade. The stone nubuck is a very attractive "mushroom" taupe that can read more grey or brown, depending on what you're wearing. The only reason I did not keep the stone nubuck is b/c I can't dress it up and I worried about staining the nubuck in summer rain storms. The matte black leather is exactly what you would expect and could definitely be dressed up. The white snake leather was the winner for me because it's the perfect summer neutral and the embossed pattern makes it slightly dressier, but also looks good with casual looks. It doesn't read as snake skin in person. I liked this sandal enough to recommend to my mother; she is a true size 7 US and she went with the EU 37 and found that to be the correct size.
