Built with lightweight FlexPlate technology for lateral stability and forefoot flexibility, this hiking shoe will have you tackling trails in no time. The footbed cover is treated with Cleansport NXT for odor control, and the Vibram® traction lugs easily shed debris while providing a superior grip.

Weightless

I’ve stuck with Moab 2s and now 3s for years. I currently have the waterproof, non-waterproof, and Gore-Tex, all mid. The waterproof and Gore-Tex are great buy when they go on sale. I noticed the speed 2 gore-Tex were on sale and decided to give them a try.. and they feel great. I get wide boots and these seem less restrictive than the Moab 3 wide. You can tell they’re not made to be as rugged as the Moab 3, but they are a comfortably feather weight boot that keeps your feet dry and cool.

Disappointed

We bought the Moab Speed 2 Mid GORE-TEX® specifically for our Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) trip because we expected good waterproof protection for hiking in changing mountain weather. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the waterproof performance. During the trip, water got into the boots and my husband's feet became wet, which was especially frustrating because waterproofing was one of the main reasons we chose the GORE-TEX® version. My husband already owns the regular Moab Speed 2 and really likes them, so we trusted the Moab Speed 2 line and decided to buy the Mid GORE-TEX® version for TMB. We expected the same comfort and quality with the added benefit of reliable waterproof protection. Sadly, that was not our experience. For a hiking boot marketed with GORE-TEX®, we expected much better water resistance. Very disappointing, especially for a long-distance mountain trek like the TMB.

Not waterproof

This is the 3rd pair of Moab speed shoes. The first pair was not waterproof. Second pair not waterproof. So I spent the extra money for Gore-tex and first walk in the rain with my umbrella I had to wring the water out of my socks. Sad part is the shoes are incredibly comfortable just not waterproof.
