Breathability One of the standout features of this jacket is its impressive breathability. Even during high-output activities such as hiking, climbing, or fast-paced walks, moisture is effectively managed, helping me stay dry and comfortable from the inside out. The pit zips provide additional ventilation when needed, making it suitable for a wide range of conditions. Waterproofing The waterproofing is outstanding. The GORE-TEX ePE fabric provides reliable protection against heavy rain, snow, and strong winds. During extended periods of bad weather, the jacket kept me completely dry without feeling clammy. The weather protection inspires confidence when heading into unpredictable conditions. Durability As expected from Arc'teryx, the durability is excellent. The materials feel robust and premium, and the reinforced high-wear areas are built to withstand demanding outdoor use. After regular use, the jacket still looks and performs like new, showing very little wear. Packability Despite its rugged construction, the Beta AR offers surprisingly good packability. It compresses easily into a backpack without taking up excessive space, making it a practical choice for travel, mountain adventures, or simply carrying as emergency weather protection. Water simply beads off the surface, and there are no weak points where moisture can enter. Great jacket. Wind shielding. I bring it with me almost everywhere. Fits well in the day pack, my truck, etc. lightweight. I keep it in the truck on my daily commute and can be used as a rain coat. Allows some breathability. Layers well with whatever warm desired under. No product is forever… I used to protect these Arcteryx products like they are investments but rather these gears are meant for use and adventure. With time, they will deteriorate regardless. Use them to help you get through weather and elements. I’m writing this review from the Grand Tetons NP.

I picked up this jacket in Banff this year and having blown away by the quality and performance of it the fit is perfect. It’s easy to stretch and move around whether I need to while skiing and hiking, and it is very easy to layer on top of insulation. All of my hikes in Waterton this season have either ended in a heavy downpour and wind or snow/sleet with wind and the jackets held up phenomenal throughout each adventure. I haven’t had to reapply DWR yet just washing it and putting in the dryer to reactivate has been fine and still beads the water. The huge pit zips provide good ventilation, and I haven’t felt overheated or sweaty in it.
