Why lined?

I kept the dress but haven't worn it yet. I wanted something light and airy for our hot California desert temps. However, this dress is lined. Why? If I was going out in the dress, I would put in a light cotton slip myself. Otherwise, it is hood dress.

Lovely But Huge

I normally wear a 14 or L/XL. I purchased an XL. This dress is so pretty with the perfect weight to the fabric and very well made. The only issue was it was huge on me. I’m returning and purchasing the next size down, but because of how big it is, I actually considered going two sizes down.
