But it

Yesterday I biked in 30 mph gusts in the flats of Iceland. This kit does the trick under a good rain jacket.

Excellent Lightweight Travel Jacket

I bought this primarily to keep in my backpack when traveling - when it gets just a little cold on flights or I need just a light layer for evening walks, etc. It's so tiny I just leave it in my backpack at all times now, even just going from home to office. It rolls up smaller than a Coke can and weighs nothing. It's also good for evening walks and I love that it has pockets, unlike the Patagonia Houdini.

A great compact wind layer!

I got this because I tend to run hot and was looking for something to keep me warm but not too warm. The fact that this jacket stows into a super small package when the day heats up a bit is definitely an added bonus. Fit is true to size. what more could you ask for?

Get One > Stuff It!

This is a very well priced member of a very utilitarian product category. You roll this badboy up and tuck it into a small corner of your pack, for when the temperature drops, the wind picks up or it starts to drizzle. Although not completely waterproof, it sheds rain and mist long enough to get you back to your home base dry. Can be stuffed into a Nalgene or a 5L sack to save room. I also have the "warm", lightly insulated Hoody model of this jacket, which I use incessantly mornings at the crag.

Super lightweight wind shell

I always underestimate this windshell. It is incredibly lightweight. I mean, really, really light. And it stops the wind from freezing me and is a great light layer on chilly, but not cold, days. The Pertex is far more breathable than the Gore fabric used in my Arc'teryx wind shell. I now layer this over light or midweight fleece on cool, and especially cool and windy, days.
