The fit is off.
These shorts are just not it. The waist band actually is wider than the legs, so it forces you to use the drawstring (thankfully it's functional), but the drawstring causes a huge inconvenience with diaper/pull up changes. We are not fans!

Not great for toddlers
I've been looking for shorts for my 2yo boy and these are loads better than the field shorts, but they're still a bit short in the inseam to reliably keep a diaper contained. And unlike the field shorts, the waistband on these isn't elastic enough for them to stay up without tying them pretty tight. I guess we'll be getting shorts elsewhere until he's old enough to for Primary's cuts to fit reasonably.

Wide gapping waist, hard to keep up
I generally love primary clothes and have been buying them for years but I'm disappointed with these shorts. They have a wide waist: in my kids' usual sizes, they were falling down and gapping at the waist. They don't have any elastic to keep them up, and I don't want to actually tie the drawstring since my kids might not be able to undo it in time to get to the bathroom.
I actually exchanged them for the next size down because I thought it was a sizing issue, but it's just a strange fit.

Gender neutral but extra short
Generally buy “above the knee” length shorts for my son. He’s normally a 7 but I bought the 8/9 for length. Shorts are still very short. Comparable to the target girl shorts length. I’m all for gender neutral but these barely cover my son’s boxer briefs. Inseam appears to be about 2.5 inches. Quality is was exactly what I was looking for though. Wish they were a tad longer.
