IE 900 Audiophile In-Ear Headphones

Coming from ie600 which is tuned magnificently to ie 900s these are a defo step up in the clarity of the highs with zero sibilance and brilliant craftsmanship. Being a gear head the only way forward is little nuances with a huge price tag but hey it’s all for r&d so I’m game. Love the sennheiser tuning and can recommend them to lovers of any music genre.

The IE 900 is one of the top choices for anyone serious about their audio experience. Its combination of superb sound quality, premium build, and provided accessories make it a worthy investment for audiophiles and music enthusiasts. I have it paired with a FIIO KA 3 USB DAC and it delivers one of the best sound stages, with clear separation of musical instruments. The ear tip fit plays a major role in determining how in ear headphones sound so playing around with several different kinds can make a difference too.. I played with the stock silicone, AZLA Sedna Earfits and several different types of silicone Spinfits before settling for the Spinfits CP 100s for bass and soundstage. In general the longer the eartip the deeper the bass and the wider the inner diameter of the eartip in relation to the nozzle/driver tip of the headphone the better the soundstage and clarity. Best to try several till you find one that works for you. Almost..yes almost ... as good as their HD 850s (which are my gold standard headphones) however thats kind of comparing apples to oranges. Sennheiser headphones tend to be neutral/warm so take some getting used to for folks new to the Sennheiser sound signature compared to say other families of headphones like B&W and B&O etc. The IE 600 (my previous purchase) comes close but the sound stage and instrument seperation on the IE 900 is clearly superior and the bass is richer and more textured. Overall very happy with my IE 900 purchase espescially with the price reduction on sale.

One of the best I’ve ever heard (and own)! The IE900 can easily beat out some $3K in-ears I’ve heard, and might even be better than my Audeze LCDi4 planar magnetic in-ear ($2.5K). The sound is well balanced throughout the spectrum, linear, dynamic, has a great presentation, and will be natural sounding (with the proper gear). I use it either with my home system ($140K), but much more often with one of my portable systems like my: iPhone 16 Pro Max > Apple Music/TIDAL/Amazon Music Unlimited > FiiO Q7 (DAC/Amp with a balanced THX AAA-788, 3000mW@32Ω in balanced mode which I use with a Pentaconn terminated MMCX cable for portable and an XLR-4 pin terminated MMCX cable for home use > IE900 L+R in-ears. This is an in-ear you can’t go wrong with, however if I had one suggestion for Sennheiser, don’t make the earphone protection grill from brittle plastic (which arrived broken the first time) and instead use a wired mesh on the canal and in the silicone tips (like the AirPods Pro).
