Received a Worn Floor Model at Full Price
I ordered these shoes for my husband after my local Nordstrom didn’t have his size in stock. There were only five pairs left in the entire Nordstrom system, so I had them shipped to my local store for pickup instead of my home because I didn’t want to risk an expensive package being stolen.
When I picked them up, I asked if I could inspect the shoes before accepting them, but I was told I had to sign for the order first. Since I’ve always trusted Nordstrom, I wasn’t concerned.
The moment I opened the box, I immediately noticed that one of the shoes was clearly a worn floor model. It still had the floor model price sticker attached, was noticeably discolored compared to the other shoe, the sole showed obvious signs of wear, and the fabric around the ankle was pilled. This was not a new pair of shoes, yet it was being sold at full retail price with no disclosure that one shoe had been used as a display.
The associate and manager both agreed the shoe had been worn, and the manager even wrote me a note confirming it. Unfortunately, they couldn’t guarantee that a replacement order wouldn’t result in me receiving the same worn shoe again.
I’m very glad I chose store pickup because I was able to inspect the shoes before leaving. If these had been shipped directly to my home, resolving the issue would have been much more difficult. For an expensive designer purchase, I don’t think customers should have to worry about receiving a worn floor model when they’re paying full price.
The shoes themselves are beautiful, but my experience receiving a used display shoe at full price was incredibly disappointing. I expect new merchandise when ordering new, especially from Nordstrom.
