Ferrosi Hooded Jacket

Great light weight material. Warm resistant, dries quickly.

I’m so desapointed with the new cut. Wanting to follow the city trend of the outdoor gear industry, you made a bad jacket with what used to be the best softshell that ever existed. Short sleeves, short torso, thighter cut ( and I’m a skinny dude!), no more longer back (this is unforgivible) and worst of all, waist binder which is not working. I had every versions of this jacket, twice, you let a bad designer change it. Please, please, please bring the older version back so I can buy a few in advance before you change it again.

I bought my OR Ferrosi two years ago when looking for a "shoulder season" layering piece that was went and water resistant and durable. I have been so impressed with this piece, it is easily the most versatile jacket that I own (and I have many). It is stretchy and extremely breathable but somehow incredibly tough and surprisingly windproof. I am normally a medium but I sized up to a large to accommodate layers underneath and a slightly longer length to cover down past my hips when wearing a pack belt. As a 5'11, 175 lb male it is a perfect fit — slightly oversized but not baggy and loose. Typically, I just jam this into whatever pack or vehicle I'm in and bust it out when I need that outer layer. In particular, I will pair it with a light puffer so that I am protecting the insulated layer and giving it some wind/water resistance. I do a lot of farm work outdoors and that can be hard on even well-designed, high-quality clothing...the Ferrosi literally looks brand new after 2 years of hard use. The last thing I'll say is that it is such a PITA to have to treat things like Gore-Tex, whereas I can just chuck this jacket into the wash with my other clothes and give it Iight spray of DWR coating after. Boom, ready to go. I'm a big fan of things that just work and this is definitely one of them.

GREAT JACKET TO WEAR ITSELF AND OVER A PUFFY! ITS JUST SO LIGHT BUT GIVES YOU A LITTLE EXTRA WARMTH ON A COLD NIGHT. YOU CANT GO WRONG WEARING IT.

Solid lightweight jacket. DWR has performed well so far. Stretch in the fabric makes for a really comfortable fit. Will probably become my every-dayer now that spring is coming around.

I don't love the way I look in this softshell, but that is very subjective, and it isn't the main reason I bought the product. It is lightweight, packs small, and manages heat and moisture very well when worn. A few times, I have wished it had some form of armpit vent, but unzipping the front instead has done the trick.
