Eiger Nordwand In Flex Air Hooded Jacket - Men's

This is a very cool jacket, great for breathability in high intensity outdoor activities while still providing a layer of insulation. It has a thin shield on the exterior, providing a protective barrier to the ultra breathable polartec insulation that would be very fragile otherwise. The only reason this gets 4 instead of 5 stars is because the Norrona Lyngen Alpha100 is a similar jacket that does it slightly better. The cut for Mammut's sleeves around the forearms is surprisingly baggy while the rest of jacket is trim, leading to excess fabric that may get snagged on twigs and rocks. Additionally, the chest pockets are placed for harness and backpack compatibility, but the 20D exterior shell seems a bit thin for that use. The jacket has not torn for me since I use it as a mid layer under a dedicated shell, though the design would indicate it is more robust than it feels. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a mid layer in high output activities, if you can get it cheaper than Norrona's, it's worth it.

Excellent warm to weight ratio. Light face fabric but remarkably wind proof. Used as both a mid-layer and outer layer for downhill skiing and just everyday walking about. Would definitely recommend as a more versatile and functional alternative to standard light to mid-weight puffy jacket. Haven't used long enough to comment on durability, but given the brand and sturdy construction I am more than confident it will last many years.
