very elegant
As others have mentioned, this dress is extremely elegant and gives you a high-class feel without breaking the bank. I plan to keep the dress and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the arm holes are a bit tight on me and it's difficult to raise my hands over my head...which shouldn't be too big of a problem at a black-tie optional cocktail party. I have an athletic build As others have mentioned, the fabric is extremely forgiving, but if you're self conscious about your midsection, you might consider spanx or wearing tights/pantyhose. I plan to wear this with black pointed toe heels and flesh colored tights with a black back seem and a red lip. Believe it will give it a classic and elegant feel.

Perfect Velvet dress
When purchasing this dress I must say for some reason I thought the black one had a nude undertone, however it does not. Still gorgeous. I wear a size 10 in dresses and then size Large fit fine. Very feminine and elegant dress.

Beautiful, comfortable dress
This dress is so flattering! Its stretchy and comfortable too, so you can move around easily. I wore this dress to a Gala and it was a huge hit. I got many compliments. Its very classy, simple, and beautiful.

flattering fit
I got a large, which was too large and exchanged it for a medium, which was tight, but it looked good. The off-the-shoulder is flattering. I got the purple, which adds a bit of color to a dress that looks black from a distance.

gorgeous
I just received this dress and it is absolutely beautiful!! I am wearing it to a wedding this weekend in the black and it looks so luxurious and expensive in person. It also fits so well and is very flattering!
