Dr. Scholl's
After learning to repair shoes and a stint as a shoe salesman, William Scholl went on to earn his medical degree and apply his expertise to creating therapeutic products meant to alleviate foot pain. The Dr. Scholl's shoe line was introduced in 1968, and its ever-popular sandal is a mainstay in a collection that includes stylish and ultra-comfortable boots, sneakers and flats.

Twenty Again
Wore these back in the early 70's...and wore them and wore them.
I loved them then and now feel like I'm back with an old friend.
These will be my slides for the summer or forever for that matter.

Dr. Scholl's original not like the original
I recently purchased a pair of Dr. Scholl's camelot "original" sandals. I was very disappointed. I compared them to the real original pair I still have which I adore. (Purchased around 2005 and exactly the same as the ones I owned in the 70s).
The footbed is much flatter than the original. The toegrip is minimal and only central; it is in the wrong position and extends under the ball of the foot.
The concavity for the ball of the foot is missing and the arch support is diminished. In addition, the footbed at the heel is less concave than previously. The binding is more anterior than previously and scrunches the toes.
The current footbed does not have the curves necessary to stop the foot from slipping forward; the arch support is insufficient. The lack of concavity at the ball of the foot and at the heel does not relieve the pressure in these areas.
In summary, the current version is a poor flat copy of the original. I may look the same but does not function as it should. It lacks the comfort, stability and relaxing properties of the true original.

Not like the originals
Returned. Won't stay on your feet. Not sculpted in the same way as the originals. Mystifying that they would change the Uber successful concept!

Disappointed.
These are NOT the Dr. Scholl's sandals from the past. The original Dr. Scholl's had a depression in the footbed for your heel and a raised toe grip. The wearer used the toe grip to help keep the sandals on. These sandals are simple flat wooden slides with no toe grip. I still have my Dr. Scholl's from the '70's, and was able to compare the two. No comparison. So disappointed.

glad to find
I was looking for the traditional version of Dr. Scholl, meaning I wanted the wooden shoe with the leather upper, so am glad I found these at Nordstrom. The spongy outer on the bottom of the shoe is tan, rather than white, so I like that as white shows dirt. These do not have the toe bump under the big toe like they did in the 70s, so the fit is slightly different for that reason. I took this website's advice to order down for half size, (I wear a 7.5 normally, so ordered a 7) and that sizing advice was right on. I didn't give this 5-star just because the rubbery outer sole on the bottom is very very soft and spongy, and just one trip from the house to the mailbox left pebble dents all over the bottom. I'm going to take the shoes to a local cobbler to have a wearable outer sole put on the bottom before I wear them again. The sole is so soft, that outer is really only suitable for indoor wear, like a bedroom slipper or house-shoe, so off to the cobbler I go. The price is quite spendy, but I really wanted this wooden version with leather upper, (not the horrible plastic and vinyl version on other websites) so I bit the bullet and paid the price. Once I get the new outer soles they'll be perfect.

Classic!
Growing up in Germany, we were never without a pair of Dr. Scholl's wooden sandals, either for wear around the house, in the garden, or out and about on a summer day. They're perfect! I searched high and low for these and was thrilled to recieve them at a huge discount. They bring back lots of fond memories:) They're comfortable and look great with a cute summer skirt or capri jeans. I purchased two pairs (one pair to use as house shoes and another for outdoor wear). Thank you, Nordstrom, you've made me a very happy customer. The fact that they're made in Italy doesn't hurt either - these are a quality pair of Dr. Scholl's sandals.
