A modern twist on the chino
I've become a fan of Kato, so I'm a bit biased. These pants are just what I was seeking: a modern resisting of the chino. I got tired of chinos a few years ago, but with the right tailoring and fabric, I welcomed their return. And these nail it. The fit is traditional from the waist downward, but then slims down to the knees and then really tapers in. I will hem them to just-above-the-shoe length, then cuff them up for a bare-ankle look once in a while. The fabric is really unique being a blend of cotton and poly for considerable stretch. I'll reserve my verdict on that combo until I see that it doesn't pill after a year or so. I'm normally a 32 waist and for these I needed a 31.
