Cuffed Sleeve Crop Turtleneck Sweatshirt

I was thrilled to pick up this sweatshirt and matching pants after reading the recommendation from Wirecutter/NYTimes. The fabric felt luxuriously soft and the fit was casual, yet elegant. Perfect for a working Mom of 3 boys that is always on the run to hockey. But as soon as I held my 5yr old, on the very first wear, the fabric immediately picked and snagged on his clothing. With an hour, I had large picks/pulls on the front, back and both arms. Completely ruined. Cashmere sweaters aren't this delicate! And certainly when you purchase a high-end sweatshirt you expect to be active and on the move with it. Very dissapointed.

I bought the matching shirt and pants and have wore them three times. I felt beautiful and cozy in the outfit and got compliments on it. The first time I wore it, we went to our children’s house for dinner. When we got home, I couldn’t figure out where there was a horrible smell. I searched to my chagrin, discovered it was my clothes. The fabric had picked up the smell of dinner. It smelled rancid instead of like the chicken chili. I hung it up in the laundry room in hopes that it would air out, but the smell persisted and was still rancid the next day. I googled the problem and discovered that this is a common issue with this type of fabric. I was extremely disappointed. I washed the outfit. The next time I wore the outfit, I hosted a short meeting at home our home. I was around food again, and the outfit picked up the odor. I had to wash it after wearing it for less than two hours. My third time wearing the outfit was to host a luncheon at home this week. Most of the food was premade before I put on my outfit, but again the fabric picked up the smell of the quiche. After washing my outfit when I took it out of the dryer, I noticed that the fabric had picks and piles all over it on the shirt and pants. The amount of time I had worn the outfit didn’t even equal an entire day. When I do my laundry, I sort all my clothes, turn many items inside out, place anything with hooks like lingerie in mesh bags, and then wash my delicates, including this outfit, together in cold water on delicate cycle. I double checked everything that was in this load and there was nothing that would have caused this damage. I considered this to be an expensive outfit for leisure wear. My size is always sold out, so I have to buy this when I can find my size and matching pieces. I cannot wait for it to go on sale because it’s always sold out. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of this fabric and how it washed and didn’t last. I will not purchase another Spanx outfit.
