Travel Packable Hooded Rain Jacket

It does not RESIST orREPEL rain at all! Wore it for the first time during a Light Rain - I'm a Lifetime Seattleite, so I am an expert - and I got totally soaked to the skin!!!

I bought this jacket for a trip. I wore it in the rain and got soaked! This is not a rain jacket!

Isn’t water proof but water resistant. Wasn’t sure it would keep me dry so I returned it. I needed a travel rain coat and there are a lot lighter jackets that are rain proof.

I’m 5’8’’, 150 lbs, 34D and I ordered a medium. It is beautiful and well made. The problem is it is very tight in the arms and chest. It barely zipped when I had a sweatshirt underneath and it is very tight in the arms. Tight enough that I can’t really move them enough to wear it so it’s going back. I even tried it with a T-shirt and it wasn’t much better. If you have shorter arms and a smaller chest it might work but it definitely runs really small.

This IS a gorgeous rain jacket and I’ve needed an updated one. It fits like a glove IF I don’t wear anything underneath or move my arms. It’s really snug in the underarm area. I ordered my usual size but this runs small. Considering I am a petite sized person for clothing, I’m sure the tightness is worse for those average sized. Trying the XL but not in the number one color I wanted.

This jacket is very chic in black (even my husband said so!) and has some really great features, but also has some drawbacks. What I love: the fact that the hood can zip into the collar. You can change it from a raincoat to more of a trenchcoat style by zipping away the hood. The fact that’s thin enough to be packable in it’s corresponding pouch is also ideal for travel. I live in a warmer climate and tend to layer when I travel abroad, so I actually really like that this is a lightweight jacket. What I find not so great: I need a petite size. At 5’3”, the sleeves are so long on me that I have to roll them twice to have them sit at my wrists, so I lose the beautiful gold detailing at the wrist. The material is a bit louder than my other raincoats - still trying to decide how much this is going to bother me. I also feel like the coat should have some sort of thin lining for this price point. I don’t have as much constriction in the upper arms as other reviewers - it’s a little bit tight if I go to raise my arms all the way above my head, but with a little shrug up, I can raise the jacket a bit on my back and be able to move my arms no problem. Then just pull it back down to adjust and voila. Not ideal at this price point but I’m willing to overlook it for the other things I like about it.
