good product
This is a bit difficult to get used to, but I have been using this for over 20 years, given to me by my grandmother when it cost less than 5.00!! It sure beats frenching them one at a time by hand. I like to french beans that the seeds have gotten a bit large as they fall out of the pods and you just blanche the pods. It would be nice if it were a little more user friendly, but if you have a helper, and you only put one or two at a time in it, you can put alot of beans through it.

Good product for the price
It does take a little effort, but once you get your groove down, it's easy. It operates pretty much like a classroom pencil sharpener and I found that if I do just a few beans at a time, they come out perfectly. The frencher is adjustable and it fit very well on the lip of my countertop. What I do for catching the beans, if you have one, place a TV table underneath the bean frencher with a wide bowl positioned underneath it. That has worked great for me, but yes, of course you have your few rogue escapees. All in all though, I prefer beans this way, so 20 some dollars to achieve this was definitely worth it.

Disappointed
We love frenched green beans and were very excited to order this product. Unfortunately this product is awkward to use at best. The clamp is not big enough for a counter top. It will attach to a kitchen table, then you need to set a bowl on a chair under it. The beans may or may not end up in the bowl. The clamp left a mark on the table and did not stay tight. Overall it is a giant pain to use.
