Capelet Velvet Sheath Dress

I really love this dress. The fabric is very nice - a slightly stretchy synthetic velvet - and it is well constructed. It has a very tailored feel but has rouching across the front that eases the fit. The fabric has some stretch to it even though the dress is fully lined. The Navy is a beautiful rich color. It is effectively a short sleeve dress and, since I'm always cold, the capelet works to keep me warm. I've read reviews of this dress commenting that the sleeves are very tight but that is not my experience. Depending on the cut of a dress I fit between sizes 10-14. I ordered a 10 and a 12 in this dress and tried on the 12 first. The top fit perfectly and the little bit of stretch allowed the hip to fit well enough. I haven't had any trouble with the capelet sticking to the velvet across the back of the dress. This dress makes me feel beautiful.

My weight fluctuates, a lot. Hence I was worried this dress wouldn’t fit in time for the event. It fits perfectly, it’s elegant and flattering. My fupa looks alright in it, even though the dress stays close to the figure. Easily improved with some shape wear. It’s comfortable, elegant, and so far I haven’t experienced any restrictions in movement. The tops of the sleeves open at the apex of the shoulders, so the capelet swoop behind the dress isn’t restricting my movement or attempting to Velcro onto my posterior. The medium weight, luxuriantly-sheened velvet fabric seems to have a slight stretch, which helps. The dress is fully lined, and well-constructed. This dress would also be ideal for an outdoors cool weather event.

I wore this dress to my Niece's December wedding and received so many compliments. The velvet material has a nice stretch so if you are in between sizes go down one size. It is very breathable too and I never felt hot even though it is a medium to heavy weight material. I usually wear a 12P but it only came in regular sizes and the 10 was perfect. I did have to get it hemmed as I like the hemline to hit at the top of my knees. The draping in the back was an elegant touch and actually helps keep your arms warm.
