Worth the Splurge
I have a knee-length Down With It Patagonia parka but still felt a chill when it was windy and below freezing so when I moved to northern New Hampshire where it regularly hits the negatives, I decided to go all out and purchase a Canada Goose jacket. I actually bought a Kensington first because I was looking for a knee-length coat, but it was the same warmth level as my Patagonia coat so I returned it for the Trillium since Trillium has a temp 4 rating (and the Kensington was a 3.) I did a ton of research but the reasons I chose the Trillium were primarily because it was the longest temp 4 or 5 jacket I could find that was not like, shin-length. I didn't think that shin-length would be flattering on me since I am 5'1 and 115lbs. (Also Nordstrom doesn't carry Dawson, my other choice.) I got the XS and it's the right size for me. I hesitate to say it fits well because it feels a little strange that the hip area is tight while the upper area is normal. I think the coat is purposefully designed to be tight in the hips so it doesn't let any cold drafts get in from the bottom. One thing I wish I knew about was that the cinched waist raises the hem of the coat. CG says that for a M, the center back length is 36" but it feels more like a 34" because the cinched waist rides up. My knees get chilly because of this but the overall experience is still warmer than any coat I've ever owned. I really enjoy the hood that provides a lot of insulation and blocks out the wind. I can actually get around without anyone seeing my face because of the fur. I have no problem with visibility, however. I did notice that the fur ruff is less full and substantial than the fur ruff on the Kensington. I thought I would be upset by that for a while but now I realize that the Trillium fur ruff turns into your face when the hood is up and it would be cumbersome if the fur was as thick as the fur on the Kensington. I was also considering LLBean's Acadia down and Land's End's commuter, but I'm really glad that I saved up for a CG. I still feel rather stylish in it and there's something about the quality or style about it that makes me feel good and excited to wear it everyday. Before I owned this coat, you would have never heard me say I was excited for a polar vortex.

So I kept seeing these coats all around and thought I want to join the cool kids club...so I ordered one and thought....ok it's expensive but you only live once. It's bulky uncomfortable and stiff... back it goes.

Very good coat with surprises (long review)
Basic info first - I purchased the Trillium coat in Military Green in Medium. I did my research before purchasing and the coat meets my high expectations for quality and warmth. IT RUNS BIG. I am size 6, 5'8" and 130lbs, lean built. I could have gone with a small. Overall, it is a very good coat for frigid winters.
There are however 2 minor surprises that I am curious if other owners have come across. First, when the coat is zipped up all the way, the collar is quite stiff and it pokes my chin. It can be uncomfortable especially when the reason you zip it all the way up is b/c it's cold. I tried leaving about 2 inches unzipped but then the collar gets in contact with my face/lips and gets lipstick stains. Not the end of the world, but annoying.
Second surprise concerns the internal shoulder straps. This likely applies to all Canada Goose women coats that come with this feature. It is a great feature and I love it. But after wearing the coat for a short while, over different pieces of clothing, I noticed two of my tops have mysterious but significant pilling in the shoulder blade areas in the back. Please see pictures. That is typically not an area where I see pilling. I suspect the straps cause friction with the material while wearing the coat. The two tops are different materials - one is a polyester workout top, other is a cashmere sweater. Needless to say, I am not happy about my clothes being "aged" like this. I have not read any reviews from other CG owners about this being a problem, so I don't know what to think. But I am pretty positive the pilling in the back can only come from the straps and not from my other coats which have no straps. I hope Nordstrom buyers can address this with CG and hopefully offer some suggestions for the future. Meanwhile I just have to be real careful about my choice of layers when I wear this coat.

Top notch quality and warmth
This is my first CG purchase and I am very pleased with the quality and construction of my jacket. I ordered the Trillium in black in a size Medium. I am 5'5" and about 160 pounds. It's a perfect fit. This jacket is a little heavy and bulky but it will keep you so warm. I plan on wearing while running kids into school and while out running errand etc. My favorite feature is the build in gloves (not actually gloves) but you get coverage like a pair of gloves and then you out your hands in the upper fleece pockets and your hands are totally protected. Amazing feature that no other jacket has. Also, the hood had a bendable wire running through it so you can adjust the fur to your head. You face and head are totally shielded from wind, rain, snow or anything .... And you can still see because your hood is falling down over your eyes. This jacket is very expensive but it's the only one I will need for may years to come! I also own Marmot and North Face which I love. However, this jacket is so chic looking with many outfits! Buy it before it sells out again,

Serious, non-fashion cold weather gear
I ordered the Trillium after returning the Kensington which fit like a sausage casing.(Both sized XL.) The Trillium is much more forgiving, while still providing plenty of length.
Good, well-thought out pocket placements, though I notice the inside pocket closes with *velcro.* Velcro has no business being used on a garment at THIS price point; hence the four stars instead of five.
I anticipate getting a good cost-per-wear from this parka, as I'm a professional dog walker in the state of Michigan.
Fashionistas, look elsewhere! This parka is meant for we outdoor workers, not cubicle dwellers.

Super comfy and warm, but .....
After going back and fourth with literally three different CG coats, I chose the Trillium.
I’ve wanted the Trillium at first, but it was sold out when I initially went on Nordstrom’s website . For reference, I wear a size 14/16 .
I originally purchased the Rossclair at first in XL, but it’s narrow on the hips . So, I took it back and purchased the Shelburne, and it wasn’t as warm as I wanted (I live in Chicago).
So FINALLY the Trillium was restocked and I purchased it in the XXL, as I was told CG runs narrow.
And this jacket is amazing !!!!!!!
The only issue, is me being a bit pear shaped, it is very snug on the hips . I thought getting a XXL I would have more room, but this is still snug .
It fits everywhere else, but the hip/butt area .
I just have to pull the bottom zipper open if I want to sit down, or if I’m doing any strenuous activities.
But other than that, I’m in LOVE with my first CG !

Love Canada Goose, but this one just didn't fit.
I love Canada Goose! I have this brand's red down vest and I look forward to wearing it every winter, so I was very excited to be ordering the Trillium parka and expected the fit to be the same. When it arrived, I was surprised at how heavy and bulky the coat was -- I purchased it for an upcoming trip to NYC in January -- and knew immediately that stowing it on the plane was going to be an issue. But no matter -- I would figure it out!
The fur around the collar was very luxurious, the fabric (I ordered Military Green) was durable and a nice color, and all of the hardware (zippers, snaps, etc.) was very sturdy.
Then I tried it on and the love affair ended. I'm 5'6", 140 lbs. and while this jacket fit like a dream through the hips -- not too tight, not too bulky -- it was absolutely enormous through the upper body, and could have been worn by someone much larger than I. This was odd because I have the vest in large and it fits great.
Normally, in such circumstances, I'd just order a smaller size, but here's the kicker: if I got the jacket in a size that fit my upper body, there's no way it would still fit around the hips -- it would be way too tight. So back it goes!
I may still try the Kensington parka (wish Nordstrom offered this coat in the Military Green!), but the Trillium is definitely not for me.
