The advertised dimensions matched the measured dimensions of my king comforter exactly. I washed and dried the duvet as recommended on receipt. It's significantly smaller than my insert now. The insert is bunched up inside and only hangs over the bed a small amount on each side. It's not an orientation issue. The fabric just shrinks. It's really nice otherwise. You could size up and use it effectively as long as you don't need a king.
