I wouldn't buy this again.
This bag is much lighter, and material much thinner than I expected from the picture. This bag doesn't hold shape. This material feels more like tarp-like material.

Excellent backpack for light personal items!
I absolutely love my Borealis convertible backpack. I have used it on short hikes. The fact that it is smaller than a regular backpack works well with what I need it for. I love the natural shade of color, as well. It would be useful for exploring during a vacation - all the necessities in the bum bag, and backpack when I need to store my jacket, or other things in it. I would definitely recommend this item and would also buy again if I needed another one.

After receiving this backpack I used it for a 5-day trip, great size for stowing under the seat on the airplane. I tend to pack light but there was plenty of room in this pack and it is great to be able to turn it into a waist pack if you just want to carry around a little bit of stuff during the day.
