Beta AR Gore-Tex^® PRO ePE Waterproof Hooded Jacket

This is my second Beta AR Jacket and I have hiked out the old one for six years....... There is nothing but good things to talk about this solid shell jacket and from my own experience this company stands by its products when they are not living up to their very high standards. My 2018 Arc’teryx Beta AR was an excellent jacket for many years. Unfortunately, the pit zipper eventually delaminated from the jacket itself. I was definitely disappointed when it happened, but it’s also fair to say the jacket had already delivered about eight years of solid use. During that time it accompanied me on countless backpacking and hiking trips and kept me dry in some serious weather, including trips to Patagonia and the Tombstone Range in Yukon. I contacted Arc'teryx through their warranty process, filled out the required forms, and submitted the details to see if anything could be done. Their response exceeded my expectations. They apologized for the issue and provided a voucher toward a new jacket, which was far more generous than I anticipated. While it’s never ideal to have gear fail, the way Arc’teryx handled the situation was impressive. They were responsive, fair, and stood behind their product in a way that left me feeling like a valued customer. Overall, I’m very happy with how things were handled and wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again.

It’s a great shell from a performance standpoint. Waterproofing is solid, it blocks wind well, and it breathes nicely. The problem is the fit. It’s uncomfortably tight in the shoulders and pit area. I have to keep the pit zips partially open just to wear it, which defeats the purpose. Bought it online without trying it on — lesson learned.
