Winter Defense Water Reistant Waxed Cotton Jacket

l-made, though I had hoped it would be made in the UK but instead saw on the tag that it was made in Maldova. I had extra room in the arms and stomach but don’t think I could’ve gone down a size because it would’ve been too tight on my hips. This jacket appears to have been designed for women who lean more top-heavy as opposed to bottom-heavy, but still a flattering jacket overall. I wouldn’t say this is a safe blind buy without trying it on because certain Barbour styles run small, like their International jacket, and others run slightly large, like this one. If you’re on the fence between two sizes and have a Nordstrom nearby, it may be a good idea to order both sizes, try them on and return the one that doesn’t fit as well. Also, keep in mind that unlike the Beadnel, it doesn’t have the snaps for the detachable hood, which I would’ve preferred but ultimately wasn’t a deal-breaker for me. Overall, I like it a lot and will keep it.

I ordered a size 4 (5'2", 107 lbs) to compare with the Beadnell. The Winter Defense has a more fitted, flattering cut for petites, warm feel, and comfortable set-in shoulders. The waxed fabric is soft and matte, not shiny. Pockets are well placed and practical. My first one had a snagged lining, but I reordered because it’s stylish, substantial, and fits perfectly.

I love the style of this Barbour jacket and I think it will be nice and warm come winter. I have a belted Barbour jacket that runs small and is a 4 and is a tight fit. This one I ordered in 6 and like the fit. I tried with heavier sweaters so I can definitely layer underneath. For reference I am 34-35 DD and 27 waist. 113 pounds. 5”2

I have been obsessed with this Barbour winter coat for a year. In November I purchased a size 10, which was returned because it was SO small and by that time many sizes were sold out. I happened to check the site and saw a 14 available and ordered it quickly. It arrived and I tried it on only to find that it too was SUPER SMALL. Checked the tag, it was a size 4. I didn’t check the size of the first coat and I wouldn’t be surprised if that one was the incorrect size too. Likely I missed out on the coat again this year because quality control at Nordstrom is not quality at all.
