Terrific rain boots
A rainy nor’easter left a muddy mess and I needed better rain boots. Found these almost immediately upon searching and bought my usual size, luckily same day in my local store. So far they seem roomier and more supportive than my Hunter boots with a thicker lug type sole, which for me is a good thing. A more casual, outdoorsy, less fitted look. I don’t have wide feet but dislike crushed toes or struggling to get boots in and off so the room in these is welcome. These have a nicely rounded toe, more toe room and are slightly wider in the toe box but are slightly shorter in height than my Hunters. In both boots I have gel inserts for extra cushioning but in the Barbours there already is some cushioning feel and I can use an even better thicker added insole, which I’m very happy about to support high arches and cushion joints. I love the actual functioning side gussets with a buckle. It makes the boot go on and off so much easier, adjusts easily to leg size and any pants you’d like to tuck in. It also helps keep the boot snug when walking around so it doesn’t move or rub as easily. The plaid inner lining is also attractive and doesn’t stick to your foot like some boots without linings might at times. I haven’t been out on hard surfaces or standing a long time but I think these will be comfortable , long lasting boots, great for walking in wet grass and paths especially. I keep looking over at them because I like them so much and am so grateful to have found them after years of not quite hitting the mark higher or lower. Unfortunately I haven’t tried Le Chameau boots yet but these seem to have some of the desirable features, like the gusset and lug type sole, along with more toe width.
