Painful shoe to wear

I have owned these shoes for more than a year. I have tried to break them in, but they are too painful to wear. The sides of the shoes rub the knob of my ankle bone. I give up and will be donating them. Beautiful shoe, but I have worn more comfortable tuxedo rental shoes. Seriously, I have owned dozens of Allen Edmond shoes and have never had one as bad as this one.

Crafsmanship

I love the appearance of the shoe for a casual shoe. The shoe took a while to feel like it was "broker-in". I've worn Allen Edmonds dress shoes everyday while I was working for about 40 years and a 13D was a perfect fit. I choose the Carson Lace-up Hybrid Derby as a casual shoe now that I'm retired. It seems too wide with the 13D size.

Not suitable for stealth mode

I have been an AE fan for many years, but I’m disappointed with these shoes. There is an issue across the vamp that causes the leather to make a popping noise as I walk. Hoping this subsides over time.
