Nolita Mesh Top

I ordered two Marcella tops--this black one and a white turtleneck one--both with mesh. The white turtleneck one was too tight in the neck, but this black one slays! I lift weights, so I was concerned that my shoulders and arms might not fit in this top, but that wasn't a problem. I wore it out to an amphitheater to see a show with my teen, and it was really comfortable!

I love this top! I ordered two sizes, medium and large, as I read in reviews that it ran slightly small. I went with my usual size medium. Ironically, the size large was more narrow in fit, but longer. I’ve worn this with black jeans and boots. I can also see wearing it more dressed up, with a skirt, tights, booties, and statement jewelry.

This is not your kids mesh top. This is for grown-ups. The mesh is a little bit thicker. The black fabric is also on the thick side and has a nice stretch to it. The shirt itself is a bit on the long side and probably something you would need to tuck in versus having meat at the top of your pants or a skirt. According to the reviews saying to size up, I got a medium, but it was just too big.

If you're used to shopping brands like Alice and Olivia (which actually runs a bit small at times, esp in bodysuits. Their pants I find to be TTS), Superdown, and Mother, the fit of this will be a huge surprise/disappointment. I could fit an arm and a half in the sleeves! The shirt is a straight up and down box. The Xsmall fit like a medium! I literally gasped when I took it out of it's bag. If you're very slender, there won't even be an option for you. The Wall Street Journal just wrote an article titled: Vanity Sizing Is Forcing Petite Women Into Kids’ Clothes. THIS IS LITERAL PROOF. To help other shoppers, I'm 5'8" and 108 lbs. 31C, 25.5, 33.5. Being tall didn't help, so I can only imagine if you're short and thin! If you're looking for something similar, I love the mesh bodysuits by Alice and Olivia and I needed a small to accommodate height/bust. In this amazing day of body positivity, I don't understand why vanity sizing is still a thing...and it only seems to be getting worse. I'd just like to be able to shop too! I don't care what size is on the tag! And, sadly, even if the sizing were correct, I still wouldn't like this. The way the fabric sits/bunches/rolls up is not flattering. It should have been a bodysuit.
