Wonder Eau de Parfum (Nordstrom Exclusive)

I was one of the people actually hoping this would smell "like a candle" as I'm about that type of whimsy. However to my nose it smells like an effervescent citrus top and a sweet vanillay amber base. I don't get the tart red cranberry nor the woodsy evergreen balsam. I do think it smells pleasant but not like a festive winter "candle" scent. Sad for me but reassuring for others I imagine. The citrus opening is rather on the festive side but it quickly mellows into a more personal fragrance type aroma. Again specifically this sweet cozy vanilla amber with the citrus taking on a subtle zingy quality in the background. So if you're a weirdo like me hoping to smell like a christmas candle, this isn't the one. If you're on the fence worrying about smelling like a candle, you have nothing to fear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely loved this perfume. I was a little bit nervous that it would smell too much like Christmas, but it’s perfect. It smells fresh and earthy. The scent last all day and even longer. One could wear this sent all year or just during Christmas time. It’s got the perfect hints of the holiday yet not the ones that would make you smell like a Christmas store. It smells, sexy and classy. 

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! So I was sent the new WONDER fragrance spray by NEST New York for my opinions and review and I was so intrigued by this one! For those unaware, this scent is kind of a usual one for a wearable fragrance, because it’s a take off their traditional and nostalgic holiday candles. I’ve been a Nest holiday candle customer for the past decade and it’s such a sentimental scent for me. Every year when we get ready to decorate for the holidays and go into the storage cabinets to start bringing out the decoration bins, this is the scent that immediately radiates and gets us in the mood. It’s just our quintessential holiday vibe in a way- once that aroma hits, it’s like hearing “It’s Tiiiime” and the whole season sets in. I wasn’t sure how it would hit or feel really, as a wearable. In fact, I’ll be honest- I didn’t like it at first (for me). My first thought, again- not thinking of the uniqueness and intention of the product itself- was that it was a little more old lady than I’d like. It’s not something I immediately wanted to smell on myself. So I set it aside and waited. It was near late summer after all- something this holiday heady, oriental, warm, spicy and cozy just did not feel right in August and even September. It was still 100* out and this scent was not something that felt like it should be on my skin. So I set it aside. Flash forward to October… some rainy weather came in, the temps dropped… and there this sat, staring at me… so I gave it another try… and Holey moley it hit different. The cold in the air, the cloudy day, the NOT 100* out gave me a whole new sensory experience. It felt cozy. It gave wholesome and like a warm hug. It made me sit and think about years past and how I loved the whole holiday process. It made sense. And once I realized it brought those candles to mind, I was able to appreciate it. And I think Nest did good. It’s definitely a cold weather, holiday type vibe, so I’m not reaching for this post holidays and definitely not list of the year. But for that time from whenever you decorate to the New Year, I think this scent is a real serious, unique winner.

Underneath the strong layer of balsam fir I can pick up slight notes of sweet grapefruit, but it’s hard to get past the holiday sent. It smells like grandma gave the Christmas tree a great big hug just before hugging you. I imagine this is how a 1950s Christmas would smell. I really wanted to like it, but the balsam is just a little much.
